Blake Harris isn’t about to let anyone take advantage of his heartbroken friend Carrie. And that includes himself, even if she’s sexy as sin in that bikini. Then she kisses him—and he’s on fire. Damage done, but he can back off. Except he sees that broken look in Carrie’s eyes. No. Hell no. New plan. He intends to show her ex just what he’s thrown away. The kisses? For show. The heat? Part of the performance. The private practice sessions? Uh-oh. Those are starting to feel a bit too real…

Carrie. He hustled her direction, and it wasn’t until he got closer that he saw the massive pink suitcase she was fighting with was broken, and the fuzz in question was coming from her—as in the bottom piece of her dress, and she was next in line to drop off her bag. “Jesus Christ,” he said, walking up to her. She looked up from the fight with her bag, blew a lock of hair out of her face, and scowled. “What the hell are you doing here?” she asked. There was that sass. He’d take attitude over her tears any day. “I could ask you the same thing,” he said. She pointed at her suitcase. “Well, you’re the genius with the idea to go on my honeymoon alone, and since my arms get tired when I flap them longer than ten minutes, I have to take an airplane to Hawaii.” He raised a brow, his blood igniting in that way that only Carrie could make it. That snarky tone made him want to spar with her. But he knew her well enough to know she was still hiding pain beneath the brazen attitude. “I’m glad to see you found your sassy pants,” he said. “Maybe they’ll keep you warm under that dress.” She rolled her eyes and Blake continued. “I’m glad you’re going and I’m glad you’re having your adventure. But I was serious about needing a—” “Spotter?” she cut in, using his term from earlier. “Yes. Carrie, you going alone isn’t an option.” “Well I’m a grown up and I’m not taking my brother. That’s weird and, oh right, I’m. A. Grown up!” she said slowly, like he was an idiot. “Lane can’t make it,” he said frankly and watched her eyes go wide, the truth hitting her. “Lane sent you,” she said with venom in her voice. “How did he even know I was here?” “He didn’t, I did,” Blake corrected quickly. “After our talk and realizing you wouldn’t wait, I tracked you down here.” “Oh right, the infamous tracker,” she said, and Blake wished she sounded more impressed. Not sure why that mattered. Maybe he could contemplate that if he wasn’t too busy staring down plump, tan skin, currently heaving out of the top of her dress. My god she looked incredible. But Carrie was clearly in a mood, and he couldn’t blame her. Last thing he should be doing is checking her out. Which he wasn’t. Because not only was she just left at the altar, but she was his best friends little sister. No way in hell was he thinking of her in any other way other than a lady to be protected. Truth be told, he thought she’d be a crying mess of sad clown makeup but instead, she was huffing from the suitcase, making the tight, low cut of her dress dip even more, giving him yet another prime view of the most perfect cleavage he’d ever seen. Kevin was an idiot to not show up for a woman like her. Stop thinking that way, she’s your buddy’s sister. “Well you found me,” she said exasperated. “So you can report back that I’m fine. Bye.” “Sorry, little girl, can’t do that.”

“Bring the file here and place it on my desk.” He settled more comfortably into his chair, steepled his fingers beneath his chin, and admired the sway of her lush hips. She placed the file down as instructed then folded her hands in front of her, eyes still averted. Schooling his need with an iron control, Daniel waited.
Her chest rose and fell, the slight hitch in her breath pressing her breasts against the thin silk of her blouse. The tip of her tongue peeked out, dampening her coral-pink lips, and a bolt of lust drove him from the chair. Ignoring Lou, he strode to the door and locked it. He doubted there were many people left in the building at that time of day on a Friday, but he wouldn’t risk anyone interrupting them.
Pacing back to the center of the room, he stopped to admire the hourglass lines of her figure. The heels looked even better from the back. Balancing on their slender points gave extra definition to her calf muscles.
“Do you know why I summoned you, Ms. Jones?”
Her breath seemed to catch in her throat. Her voice barely above a whisper, she said, “No, Mr. Smith.”
“You will call me Daniel.” The visceral need for her to know who was about to touch her surprised him. He wanted to hear his name on her lips as she sighed, moaned, and fell apart at his command. Her head bobbed in acquiescence, and he spoke again. “I summoned you because you canceled our appointment this evening.”
She half-turned, seemed to catch herself, and straightened to face the front again. A thrill of satisfaction curled in his gut. Each little act of submission from her proved sexy as hell. “Did you do as I requested?” he asked. Her skirt clung to her hips and ass with no hint of a panty line, but he couldn’t be sure.
“Yes,” she murmured.
A bolt of lust rocked him on his heels. He wanted to crawl on his hands and knees and fawn at her feet, but she had been very specific in her email—her fantasy required him to be the boss, to take control and dictate his desires upon her.
“Show me.” The rasp in his voice couldn’t be helped; his body tingled with anticipation. Her hands gripped the hem of her skirt and began to raise it, inch by tantalizing inch. The material cleared the back of her knees, gliding higher to reveal the lacy tops of her thigh-high stockings, the soft expanse of her tanned thighs.

About Ruthless:

People call me Ruthless for a reason. Whether I’m in the court room or in the bedroom, my reputation is well-earned. I’m either working hard, working out, or working my way into some woman's panties. But none of them share my particular kink, and I walk away feeling unsatisfied. Until I met her. She’s a friend of a friend, which makes her off-limits in my book. But then temptation had me by the balls and I had her up against a wall. She literally fucked my world off its axis, but it can’t happen again. My plan was avoidance, but that got blown to shit when my firm hired her as a new junior attorney. Now I’m her boss, and I’m supposed to act like I don’t want to bend her over my desk every five minutes. But I’ve never held myself back with anything before, so consequences be damned. It’s time to take what I want and show her how damn good it feels...to be ruthless.

Review:

OMG this book was hot! H O T Hot!!!!!! I mean yeah most of the Gina Maxwell's books are but this one took it up  a notch as far as i'm concerned.

Ruthless and the Honey Badger are a match made in heaven. If heaven was a place full sexual tension and steamy as hell sexual relations. If you're not a fan of more than two people in a bed together some of  the scenes may not be up your alley but it is not your typical menage and that is all i can say without giving too much away..

I'll admit there were a few times I wanted to slap Ruthless up side the head for being so stupid. But his friends and the lovely Addison help point him in the right direction.

Also I am dying to see which book will be next in this series because there is at least two stories Ms Maxwell dropped clues about in this book.

Overall I give this 5 out of 5
