Release Day Blitz: Resolutions by Terri Rigs

RESOLUTIONS
TERI RIGGS

Blurb:

DEA agent Eve Taylor has had her fill of alpha males. When Resolutions’ operative and former lover, Dillon “Mac” McKenna, threatened her hard-earned independence, she ran. On a mission to gather evidence against a Colombian drug-lord, Eve discovers the drug-lord is helping terrorists plan an attack on American soil. Before she can escape with the vital information, she’s captured and comes face to face with her mortality…

As a teen, Mac watched his family fall apart after his mother died doing dangerous U.N. work. The possibility of losing Eve to a mission ignited an overwhelming need to protect her. When he forced her to choose him or her job, she walked away. Two years later, it seems all his nightmares have come true and he’s tasked with rescuing her from a Colombian prison. Mac has never stopped loving Eve, but does he dare risk his heart when he’s so terrified of losing…

On the run, Mac and Eve must learn to trust each other again in order to stay alive.

Excerpt:
Beefy hands wrenched Eve awake from a fevered sleep, pulled her from the cell, and shoved her into a musty-smelling hallway. I’m being moved? A guard pushed her with one hand, keeping a tight grip on an AK-47 rifle with his other.
Her shoulder throbbed in perfect cadence with the pains shooting through her broken wrist, and she had one badass headache from being punched in the face a few too many times. Using her good hand, she walked fingers across one cheek, then the other. The right side was totally numb. Her eye had swollen shut, and she couldn’t see a damn thing out of it. She ran her tongue across her teeth and tasted the tart, copper flavor of blood. Three teeth loose. Well, at least they’re still in place.
In spite of the relentless pain, she stayed determined to survive whatever Mendoza dished out. She wasn’t a quitter. No, sir. Duncan Falls, Iowa didn’t grow quitters. Eve ignored the constant ache in her ribs, courtesy of a guard’s overzealous kick, and took in a deep breath. She willed herself to stay alert, to keep pushing. Escape. Third times the charm.
Eve slapped the guard’s dirty hand. “Hey, Pedro, stop being so damned pushy. Where we going anyway? We got a hot date I’ve forgotten about?”
He looked puzzled then shoved her again.
“Don’t understand English, do you, Diego? Bet you understand this.” Eve drove her elbow into the guard’s face. Thick rubbery cartilage gave, and she whooped triumphantly.
Blood squirted from his nose and he screamed.
Eve stepped back. “Yep, I’m pretty sure you understand that.”
Unable to grab the guard’s assault rifle, she clutched her injured shoulder, and took off in a slow jog, no longer able to push any harder.
Her escape was short lived.

Spotlight: Deep Rising by N.R. Rhodes

Deep Rising
N.R. Rhodes
Smart. Sexy. Suspense.

Blurb:
In his nine-year stint with the CIA, Jared Caldwell thought he’d seen it all. But when his latest mission instructs him to apprehend a beautiful scientist who’s allegedly linked to a devastating new form of warfare, he isn’t prepared for the prospect of battling man-made tsunamis—or the misplaced feelings he harbors for his number one suspect.

The irony of being accused of crimes her research was intended to prevent isn’t lost on Svetlana Orskya. She also didn’t expect her wish for a strong, sexy man to sweep in and change her life to come true—especially not when he appears, gun in hand, pointed at her.

But time is running out and Jared and Lana must work together to protect the mainland. As the heat between them—and the threat of mass destruction—rises there is more at stake than just their hearts.

Excerpt:
“I want to stop Sergei as much as you do—more so because it seems I’ve enabled him.”
A hand caught her arm. In the next instant she was spun around and pressed against the door. His palms slapped against the doorframe, caging her in place. Jared towered over her and she wasn’t a small woman.
“What do you mean ‘enabled him’?”
Oh, no, did he think she consciously helped her brother? “I didn’t intentionally enable anyone, Jared. I never intended for my research to be misused.” She stared into his sharp, beautiful hazel eyes and tried to make him believe in her innocence.
For several heartbeats, neither moved, then his hands slowly moved from the door to her shoulders and finally up to her throat, where either hand pressed against the arteries on her neck. He stayed there presumably counting her pulse, and while she spoke the truth, she knew her body betrayed her. His muscled shoulders dwarfed her. The crisp shirt he wore molded to the muscles of his biceps and chest. He was strong and powerful and dangerous. Without thinking, she licked her lips.
He made some low, rumbling sound. The hands at her throat threaded through her hair, lifting her face to his.
His body pressed against hers. Through the bathing suit, her breasts tightened almost painfully at the contact of his muscled chest. She was a heartbeat away from rising on her toes and pressing her mouth to his.
“No,” he muttered. For a moment, he leaned even closer, his lips grazing her temple. His sharp intake of breath echoed hers. When he drew back, he drew her away from the door.
“Let’s go.” He led her out of the hotel room. More disconcerted than she cared to admit, Lana followed in his wake.

Adult Excerpt:
Long and thick, his cock rested on his abdomen, and she traced a finger up the thick vein underneath, until she reached the bulbous head. His shaft twitched and hardened further under her gentle touch and she glanced up at his face to make sure he was still asleep. Her heart stalled in her chest, for Slade was watching her. One thick eyebrow raised, his gaze pinned her in place. Her skin tingled under his heated regard. Nipples firmed and her breasts grew heavy, and she squirmed on the bed and hastily withdrew her hand. Slade smirked and laced his hands behind his head in an air of nonchalance.
“Don’t stop now, petal. I find myself most curious as to what you had in mind.”
His deep voice washed over her and she let her eyes feast on the image of male perfection in front of her. From the full lips drawn up in a sinful smile, over the beard-roughened jaw, the thick neck with the prominent Adam’s apple, she let her gaze wander. Down over the width of his muscled shoulders, and the pectorals covered in a fine dusting of chest hair that narrowed over the ridges and valleys of his six pack, until it created a happy trail leading to the dark patch of hair at the base of his thick cock.
“Touch me, petal.” His voice sounded thicker than before she had started her visual inspection, and her body responded to the silken promise behind those words with a trickle of moisture between her legs. Her internal walls clenched in need, and she licked her lips when a drop of pre-cum appeared at the tip of Slade’s dick. He groaned and she bent forward, put her hands on his thighs, and then licked that slick of his essence away. Salty and tangy his unique musk filled her nostrils and she inhaled against his abdomen.
Slade’s thighs tensed under her hands, and he swore under his breath, making her smile. His skin, covering the hard muscles underneath, was silky smooth, and Laura ran her hands over the hard expanse of his tummy. Her lips followed the path her hands had already taken, and she flicked the hard little nubs of his nipples, and tugged at his chest hair.
“Naughty girl, you’re heading the wrong way.” The words were stern, but when she looked up she could see the laughter in his eyes, and something else, that turned her heart into a sledgehammer.
Slade wrapped his hand into her hair and tugged her up and close until she half lay on him. Her scalp prickled under the firm grip he had on her tresses, and her eyes closed at the first brush of his lips against hers.
He licked along the seam of her lips, and Laura sighed. Slade slipped in and took charge of the kiss with a thorough exploration of her mouth that left her breathless and needy.
She clenched her thighs to relieve the ache between her legs and Slade broke the kiss with a smile. He slapped her ass right across one of the welts leftover from last night and the residual pain zinged straight to her clit. Like sweet torture, that tiny bit of pain increased her need for him tenfold and she moaned her denial when he released her.
Slade cupped his now fully erect cock, and smiled at her.
“Beg for it, if you want it, petal, like a good little sub.”
Startled she looked up at him, and Laura swallowed hard at the intensity of his stare. Jaws clenched, Slade studied her, and her insides turned to goo at the air of command he exuded.
“Please, Sir, may I have your cock?”
Approval lit up his eyes, and Laura breathed easier knowing that she had pleased him. Never in a million years would she have thought that she would beg for a man’s cock, yet with him, here, right now, it seemed the most natural thing in the world. He stroked himself faster and Laura’s pussy clenched and unclenched in rhythm with those long fingered strokes up and down his cock. She wanted to wrap her fingers round his thick girth and swallow the renewed moisture leaking out of his slit.
“Where do you want my cock, petal? Which one of your sweet holes shall I fill?” Slade asked. He palmed one of her breasts with his free hand and squeezed hard enough to bring tears to her eyes. Sweet pain that made her more desperate for him.
“Shall I fuck your tits, petal, or your mouth?” He abandoned her breasts and ran his hand up to her throat, squeezing slightly, before he covered her mouth. His fingers dug into her jaw and he pulled her closer still, until he could nuzzle her neck. A shudder went through her and he sucked hard enough to leave a bruise. Biting down slightly, he then released her and ran his hand back down her body. He tapped her legs and Laura opened her thighs automatically.
“Good girl,” he whispered. Before she even knew what was happening, he had her flat on her back with her legs flung over his shoulders. Wide open and exposed, Laura trembled and flinched as he rubbed his stubble across the sensitive skin of her upper thighs. His hands dug into her ass cheeks, lifting her off the bed and she gasped when he slid his fingers through her wet slit and then pushed his slick thumb through her little puckered hole.
“Maybe I’ll fuck you up the ass. Would my little petal like that?”

Authors Bio: Glutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris... at least that's what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.

There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head. Her characters tend to be pretty insistent to get their stories told, and you will find Doris burning the midnight oil on a regular basis. Only time to get any peace and quiet and besides, sleep is for wimps.

She likes to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.

Description:
Fast cars and a smokin' hot passion...

Rex intends to own and drive his own car, but that will cost him millions up front. Last season was a disaster, thanks to a nasty break up, but it taught him a lesson and helped sharpen his focus on what he needed to do: Win every race. And stay away from pretty girls. The last thing he needed was to learn that his new head mechanic, Jimmy James, was the gorgeous redhead pin-up walking around his pit like it was some kind of dance floor.

Gail "Jimmy" James is the first female NASCAR mechanic. As if competing in a man's world isn't tough enough, her bombshell figure bellies her genius IQ, and the pit is no place for either. Nothing Jimmy knew about Rex Henderson the driver prepared her for Rex Henderson the man. But Jimmy has no time to dwell on her feelings as strange mechanical problems curse Rex's car. Whether sabotage or her own mistakes, Jimmy must stay one step ahead of trouble if she's going to keep her job, and keep her driver alive...

Excerpt:
“What the hell happened?” Rex demanded, yanking off his helmet.
“The car is new and you were pushing it hard,” Duff said.
Rex tossed his helmet through the driver’s window. “Something broke out there. I want to know what it was—and why.” Even as Rex said the words, he knew his mind had been on Gail more than it should have been. Had he screwed up?
“We’ll figure it out. First, let’s concentrate on getting the backup ready. We may still get some laps in by the end of day.”
They crossed the pit to the half wall in front of the access road where the crew waited solemnly—minus Gail.
“Where is she?” Rex demanded.
Duff looked around. No one spoke or moved. No shrugs. Not even a blink. Was she angry enough over last night to quit the team? Maybe that plus the locker room incident had been too much.
Brent cracked a grin. “I think she went to the can.”
“The can?” Rex repeated.
“Yeah,” Brent said. “She said she’d wait for you there.”
Rex whipped his glare onto Brent. The idiot was begging for a broken nose. Rex took a step toward him.
Brent backed up, hands at chest level. “Don’t shoot the messenger.”
Rex forced his anger down. One crisis at a time. He vaulted over pit wall and dashed toward the garage. Behind him, Benny, the jackman, said, “Sorry Duff. We didn’t expect to be on the track for another hour. If we had known, we would have let Jimmy—”
Rex trotted around the stalls to the back, where Duff had set up a port-a-potty for Gail. What could she be doing in that thing for—a muffled cry was followed by a dull pounding. Rex broke into a run. He rounded the corner and saw a screwdriver bridging the eyelets on the door and doorjamb of the port-a-potty. Holy cow! How long had she been locked in there? At least a good twenty minutes, he realized, and picked up speed. An instant later, he reached the port-a-potty.
Gail pounded again and screamed, “Let me out!”
Rex winced. Opening the door would be like cutting into a hornet’s nest. He should make whoever locked her in let her out.
He gripped the door handle and said softly, “Gail.”
She went quiet.
“I want you to know I had nothing to do with this.”
“And I’m the Queen of England. Let me out of here!”
She kicked the door twice. The plastic bellowed with each blow. Rex blew out a breath. How had the flimsy plastic contained her for twenty minutes? He gripped the handle of the screwdriver. Sucking in a deep breath, he yanked the screwdriver from the catch and jumped back.
The door sprang open. Gail leaped from the port-a-potty. She shoved at his chest. “You conceited jerk! You think that’s funny?”
A man couldn’t help but smile a little. “Gail, I didn’t—”
She snatched the screwdriver from him and pointed it at his chest. “It’s Jimmy. Get it right.”
Rex sidestepped a swipe of the screwdriver.
“First the locker room, now this!” She stomped closer. He fell back a pace. “Let’s not forget last night at dinner!” She made another jab with the screwdriver.
“Gail—” He saw her fingers ball into a fist.
“Jimmy!” She punched his stomach.
Rex flinched, then sucked breath. He’d been ready for the punch, but she’d gotten him smack dab in the solar plexus. A feminine chuckle sounded behind him. He whipped to the side.
Laura Banks, blonde bombshell NASCAR reporter, smiled. “What’s going on, Rex?” She glanced at Gail, then leveled a brown-eyed stare at him.
“Nothing.” Rex shot Gail another glare.
“Aren’t you going to introduce me to your new mechanic?”
Helluva time for Laura to show up. Sweat glistened off Gail’s forehead where her hair was plastered to her forehead, and she still pointed the screwdriver at him as if he were a screw that needed screwing.
“Not now, Laura.” Rex eyed the screwdriver and grabbed Gail’s elbow. “We have work to do.” He started toward the garage.
Gail yanked free, but didn’t lower the screwdriver. “Afraid I’ll steal your thunder?”
He halted. “My car—”
Her brows shot up in a condescending question.
Rex shrugged. “Laura, this is Gail James, No. 14’s head mechanic.”
Gail shot him a smoldering glower.
He glanced at the screwdriver. “You might want to call her Jimmy, otherwise, she’s liable to screw you to death.”
Gail’s eyes widened, and he gave her a let’s play harder look as he said, “Me, I like living on the edge. Gail, Laura Banks, official field reporter for NASCAR.”
For an instant, Rex thought Gail might take another swipe at him, but she dropped her hand to her side and nodded to Laura. Rex had a sneaking suspicion he would see that tool again, and not in a way he preferred.
Laura stepped past Rex. “Jimmy, you know you’re creating quite a stir.” She cast a glance back at Rex and he knew Laura wasn’t just talking about the media. Damn reporters.
The women started toward the garage.
“Gail,” Rex called.
Her head jerked to the side and her narrowed eyes met his.
“When you finish with Laura, you might want to pitch in with the car. I crashed it.”
Her mouth dropped open.
“My producers are screaming for an exclusive,” Laura said, but Rex didn’t think Gail heard. Her gaze remained transfixed on him. He almost felt sorry for her.
“Can we go somewhere and talk? I want to know everything,” Laura said. Gail slowed and Laura said, “Ms. James?”
Rex caught the anxiety in Gail’s eyes before they turned the corner. A second later, Duff appeared around the garage headed in Rex’s direction.
Duff halted beside him. “Locked in the port-a-potty?”
Rex nodded, his attention on the spot where Gail had disappeared.
“Was she mad?”
Rex turned his attention to Duff. “Mad doesn’t do it justice.”

Whew! Hot, hot, hot - these men have definitely turned up the heat!

Ian: Wicked Games by Samanthe Beck  (part of the anthology)
Grayson: Seducing Mr. Right by Katee Robert  (part of the anthology)
Landon: Tempted by His Best Friend by Cari Quinn  (part of the anthology)
Derek: Protecting What's Theirs by Tessa Bailey  (part of the anthology)
Jett: Wicked Heat by Nicola Marsh
Trick: Dirty Trick by Christine Bell

Here are today’s questions for the men

Question #3: Cats or dogs?

Ian: Neither right now because my schedule wouldn’t be fair to a pet. But someday, both.

Grayson: I don't have time for pets, although if I had my choice, it would be a cat.

Trick: Cats always seem like they’re doing you a favor by sticking around so I gotta go with dogs. They don’t call them a man’s best friend for nothing.

Derek: Never had any use for pets, but lately I've been thinking of getting a guard dog. A big one. Just to give me that extra peace of mind when I'm working late and Ginger is home alone.

Jett: Dog. An Aussie Blue Heeler. Smartest dog on the planet.

Landon: Dog. I like straightforward affection, no questions asked.

Question #4: Describe your perfect first date:

Ian: Stacy Roberts flat on her back with her legs flung over my shoulders, screaming her lungs out while I demonstrate my ability to incapacitate a suspect with nothing but my tongue.

Grayson: If you'd asked me this a few months ago, it would be something with expensive food and a slow seduction of the senses. Now? Now, it's a coffee date full of laughter and teasing.

Trick: Me and my girl, at the beach on a summer night with a bonfire, an icy cooler full of beer and a bottle of red wine, a picnic basket full of cold fried chicken, a loaf of good bread, and a container of fresh strawberries. We’d just kick back, eat, listen to the waves, talk and laugh. Then, after dinner, we’d go for a skinny dip. *slow grin* Yeah. That’s perfection.

Derek: A good meal, somewhere I can look at her in the candlelight. Ideally, I like somewhere that at least gives the illusion of intimacy. I don't want another table close enough to mine that they're able to hear the words I'm seducing her with. Oh, and I like the restaurant close to home. When the need for her gets to be too much, I need to be ten minutes from our bed.

Jett: Cooking for her at my place in Bondi. Walk on the beach afterward. Talking and flirting and laughing over a late night latte at my favorite ocean-side café. I like informal, relaxed first dates and just going with the flow.

Landon: Honestly? Watching a horror movie, eating popcorn and laughing at stupid jokes. If I can't laugh with a woman, all bets are off.

Daring to Wish by Tracey Rogers

What happens when you dare to wish?

In an effort to regain her independence and break out of her shell, shy Eve Ward writes a daring wish list of all the things she wants to do before her thirtieth birthday. It's a good thing the list is for her eyes only, because some of the items are pretty risqué.

Adrenaline junkie Lucas Riley becomes Eve's "victim" in a kiss-a-stranger dare, and she thinks he's perfect for her one-night-with-a-stranger wish.

"Wait."

Eve froze mid-turn, halted by his husky command and the tingle radiating from his hand lightly grasping her wrist. She met his gaze and realized how wrong she'd been. He was a million miles away from being uncomplicated. The startling blue of his eyes revealed depths Eve could only imagine drowning in.

"Did you say…nice?" He leaned closer. "I would say that was a lot better than nice. I'm sure if we tried again we could manage spectacular. Don't you agree?" he drawled.

Maybe nice had been the wrong word to choose Eve relented as she noted his husky tone. It was infinitely better than nice.Try amazing! Her breath hitched as she thought of his kiss again. Knowing he enjoyed it too sent a surge of pleasure through her that settled deep within her belly. Obviously she could do some things right.

If she intended to fulfill her wishes she was going to have to find some confidence from somewhere—and fast! At the moment her confidence seemed to be firmly in the area of her knickers.

Running and hiding now seemed out of the question. Maybe confidence practice would be the lesser of two evils? She paused before facing Mr. Hotness for confidence lesson one.

"Hmm…" She pretended to consider. "Maybe you're right. However, as this was a dare I'm afraid it was a one time opportunity," she added with mock apology. "So I guess we'll never know."

"You kissed me for a dare?" His brow arched.

Eve nodded. "Uh-huh. My dare was to kiss a stranger."

"A dare, huh? I feel so…so violated." He clutched his free hand to his chest in feigned hurt, although his eyes brimmed with humor and a smile tugged at the corner of his delicious mouth.

"Don't be offended. I did actually choose you," she blurted before forgetting her cool, calm, and confident aim.

"So you really thought you could violate me then run?"

"That was my plan, yes," she said with a confidence she didn't quite feel, especially as she was distracted by the thumb lightly stroking her wrist.

"And I didn't even try to play hard to get. Guess you got lucky."

"Or maybe you did," she countered without thought, mortified as a blush warmed her cheeks at his responding grin.

"Tell me, do you like to be dared?"

Her eyes widened at the loaded question. "I…I find a challenge hard to resist."

"Damn good thing I'm a challenge."

About the Author:

A devourer of books from an early age, I spent much of my childhood stepping into wardrobes, searching for that magical snowy world where conversing with animals would be expected. When I wasn't searching for those worlds, I wrote about them instead. My first step into the world of romance was when I stole sneak peeks into my nana's books. I'm still in that world and refuse to leave.

I live in Staffordshire, UK, with my husband and three wonderful children. An avid reader and writer of romance, I strongly believe that words make the world go around.
