Simon Tyler knows his job as a gay romance author makes his lack of faith in love more than a little ironic, but he’s tired of being used for his wallet. When a night out turns into a matchmaking scheme orchestrated by his best friends—though he’s not the target—Simon’s not thrilled, but since he’s sworn off happily-ever-after anyway, he goes along with it… until he meets the object of their efforts, Adrian, and finds perhaps he hasn’t given up on love after all.

Professor Adrian Keys has tried to date hearing men before, but being deaf himself, he’s never had any success at making a connection. After his friends con him into going out and Adrian realizes it’s all an elaborate plan to set him up, he braces for yet another failure, only to discover there is a spark—except it’s not with the man his friends had in mind, but with Simon Tyler instead.

Not all their friends have found a way past their romantic failures, but Simon and Adrian might be on the path to happily-ever-after.

“I found it a beautiful tale of unhappiness changed to romance and then love with a happy ending.”

Designs of Desire is a tough realistic book that is touched by violence countered by the growing love between the two heroes.”
—Sensual Reads, on “Designs of Desire”

“It’s a great book to fall into and enjoy some really good characters.”
—Love Bytes, on “Desires’ Guardian”

“This is my favorite in this series so far. I love seeing how these characters are growing, all of them. As individuals, as couples, as friends, and as a family.”
—MM Good Book Reviews, on “Desires’ Guardian”

“The writer did an excellent job with the characters, they are likable and perfect. Not perfect in the way that they have no flaws, but in a way that they grab you and complement each other.”

Review: Pucked Up by @helenahunting

SUMMARY:

Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth. After five years in the NHL, deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies, Miller has decided he’s ready for a girlfriend. A real, non-bunny girlfriend to take on dates, and not jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.
Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike team captain and all-around nice guy Alex Waters—who happens to date his stepsister, Miller’s media reputation as a manwhore is well earned. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about relationships or the time and effort they require.
Miller learns—eventually—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he’s going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

REVIEW:

I'll be the first to admit I was a little apprehensive about this book. I loved Pucked and I was fairly sure there was no way this book would be as good as that. I am happy to report that I was completely wrong.

Miller and Sunny make a wonderful couple and their interactions while not as wild and sexy as the previous book still had a good amount of sizzle. But what I truly loved was the more gentle side of Miller and seeing him as more than the player that we got to see in the first book. And I completely loved that this book was from his pov.

There are a few things I adored towards the end of the book but I can't share them with you without ruining the reading experience.

I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5

Spotlight/Review: Sinner's Steel by @Sarah_Castille

He’s hell on wheels and she’s the one who got away.  Sinner’s Steel, the third novel in the Sinner’s Motorcycle Club series is a vivid and powerful MC romance from Sarah Castille.  Fans of Joanna Wylde and Kristen Ashley’s biker romances will love this intense, rough and raw addition to the Sinner's Motorcycle Club series.

Title: Sinner’s Steel
Author: Sarah Castille
Series: Sinner’s Tribe
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 6, 2015
Publisher: St. Martin’s Paperbacks
Print Length: 352 pages

HE’S HELL ON WHEELS.
Tall, dark, and dangerously handsome, Zane “Tracker” Colter is the strong, silent type of tattooed muscle biker who drives women wild. But as a master of strategy for the outlaw MC club, Sinner’s Tribe, he doesn’t have time to play around with groupies and biker chicks-especially when he can’t stop thinking about Evie, the girl who got away…

SHE’S PLAYING WITH FIRE.
Evie’s been in love with Zane ever since they were children-until he broke her heart and disappeared. Now he’s back in her life, bigger and badder than ever. Zane is stunned by how beautiful and confident Evie’s become, using her artistic talent to customize motorcycles. He wants her so bad, he’d ride through fire to win her back. There’s one problem: Evie is dating his deadliest rival-the leader of the Black Jacks-and if Evie and Zane hook up, there’ll be hell to pay…

“I can’t do this.” Evie pulled away, her cheeks burning with a flush of heat. She knew Zane, the dark, passionate, slightly awkward high-school senior who made her stomach flutter when he smiled; the boy with a good heart who’d been dealt a bad hand in life; her protector and one-time friend. But this man . . . this biker—broad and heavily muscled, tatted and pierced, ruthless and dominant, who walked and talked with confidence and swagger, and so easily manipulated her body, awakening long dormant passion and desire—was a stranger to her.
A stranger who made her body respond with a single touch. A stranger who ignited a blazing hot chemistry that made her feel alive. A stranger who had disappeared when her father’s body was still warm on the ground.
Zane released a tortured breath and turned her to face him. “Things didn’t go right between us when we met the other day. We had things we needed to say, and we didn’t get to say them.” His corded throat tightened when he swallowed. “Ask me, Evie.”
Emotion welled up in her chest, pushing the words to the tip of her tongue. Although she knew the question was a betrayal in itself, she needed to hear the truth. For Ty. And for her own peace of mind. “Did you kill my dad?”
“No, sweetheart. It wasn’t me.”
Her breath left her in a rush, her knees giving way. If not for his arms around her, she would have fallen to the ground.
“In my heart I knew, but I needed to hear it,” she whispered.
“And I needed to say it.” He brushed a rough finger over her cheek. “After I saw you again, and we had words, I thought we were done. I thought I wouldn’t be able to get over the fact you didn’t wait for me. But I couldn’t stop thinking about you. When I was at your place, and T-Rex had his hands on you . . .”  He drew in a ragged breath. "We’re not done, Evie. I don’t expect you to forgive me for leaving the way I did, and maybe one day I will understand why you didn’t wait, but I will never be done with you.” He cupped her face between his hands and kissed her.
At first, his lips were soft, hesitant, as if he thought she might slap him again, but when a low moan escaped her lips, he deepened the kiss, pulling her closer as he ravaged her mouth. Evie wrapped her arms around him and molded her body against his as she met every desperate stroke of his tongue with one of her own. His grip tightened and when she tried to pull away, gasping for breath, he nipped her bottom lip demanding more.
Shocked by the intensity of her reaction, she wrenched herself away, the rapid rise and fall of her chest matching his, but when she took a step back, he followed, one hand curled behind her neck, the other gentle on her hip as he pressed his lips to her temple. “I got shit to do tonight, but I need to see you again. I’ll swing by your place tomorrow night.”
Her blood chilled, and not just because she wasn’t ready for him to meet Ty. “You can’t. I . . . I have plans.”
“Cancel them.”
God, those two words, demanding and defiant, laced with expectation and desire, did strange things to her stomach. If it had been anyone else she had agreed to meet for dinner, she would have done as he asked. But she had no way of contacting Viper other than making a trip to his clubhouse, which she wasn’t prepared to do, and as Connie said, he wasn’t the kind of man to blow off in such a casual manner. Plus, she needed some distance. Kissing Zane had never been in the program.
“I can’t.”
“Then I’ll find you.” He didn’t wait for a response. Instead he reached over her for the paint box, then took her hand and led her out of the closet, as if he could keep her from running with only his touch.

It would be so easy to give in

Review:

I'll be the first to admit I am not a huge fan of Biker books. Having read some of Ms Castille's other books and loved them When I saw this one come up for review I decided to give it a try. That being said I really did enjoy this book so much so that when i have some spare tie i plan to got back and read the first two books in the series.

I loved the childhood friend to adult lovers aspect of this book as well as a few other of the plot points but i'm not going to tell you what they were because it will spoil the book. Zane and Evie have great chemistry and they interactions sizzle.

The only thing I found a little hard to stomach was some of the violence. It wasn't by any means gratuitous or unjustified it was just not something i wanted to read about in detail.

All in all I give this book 4.5 out of 5

Blurb:
Once upon a time, a beautiful combat helicopter pilot crashed to the earth. For weeks she lies sleeping, waiting for her princess to wake her from her slumber.

Chris Carlson, her heroine and a shy school teacher, comes to her rescue, by contacting Madame Eve to make all her dreams come true. Little does she know, the one magical kiss that wakes beauty will also start a snowball reaction, one which will change her life forever.

Sometimes, life’s greatest challenges also bring the biggest blessings, and when you walk through fire, it makes you appreciate what you fought for so much more.
Chris is about to step into an inferno.

Excerpt:
Chris pulled up in front of the hospital and reached into the center console of her Jeep to pull out the invitation.
Congratulations,
Your date has been arranged. You can meet her at 325 Parkside Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, room 202A. I understand this is rather unconventional, and most dates don’t meet until the 1Night Stand, but this preliminary meeting is necessary. When you are ready to proceed, I will forward more details.
Sincerely,
Madame Eve
No name. No picture. Nothing else to tell her what Madame Eve had planned. Did her date have the details of where they were going and what they were doing? And what did she mean by when you are ready to proceed?
This had to be some kind of mistake. The building didn’t look like any kind of residence she’d seen. Well, not in the traditional sense.
Maybe her date worked here? She read the cream-colored card again and flicked her thumb back and forth across the edge. With a sigh, she tossed it onto the passenger seat. Okay…right address. So, what are you waiting for? This is what you’ve wanted your entire life.
She opened the door and slid out. A nurse, pushing a wheelchair with a double amputee who wore dog tags, approached, stopping her cold. Attractive. Ice seemed to grip Chris, gluing her soles to the parking lot. She wanted to jump back in the Jeep and run, but, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t move, let alone breathe.
“Good morning,” the nurse said and continued on by.
“Morning.” The tension leaked from her shoulders, flowing away. Chris blinked and then twisted to watch them go. The woman in bright-pink scrubs wheeled her patient toward a mini-park off to the side, without looking back. No. The nurse didn’t look like what she’d described as her ideal woman. Too…girly. Silly to assume her date would come out to meet her with a witness. Oh hell. She hadn’t even made it to the front door, and she’d already freaked. This didn’t bode well at all.
She ran her sweaty palms down the front of her denim shorts and took a deep breath, replenishing her courage. Time to stop pretending—hiding. “I can do this.” Chris fisted her hands at her sides. A public location. She surveyed the area, taking it all in. Everywhere around her—people.Seriously? She’d wanted to take baby steps into the same-sex dating world, come out of the closet slowly. Had to. Her career depended on it, and she’d told Madame Eve she needed to be discreet.
So why here? There couldn’t be a more public place. Her stomach churning, she swallowed the lump forming in her throat. Why am I doing this?

No matter what people said, the support gays and lesbians received from the stars and media didn’t mean anything in small town America. In her world, kindergarten teachers weren’t lesbians. She’d struggled with this tug-of-war between her professional and personal life for four years, until her sister came right out and told her she knew.

About HARD AS STEEL: A Hard Ink/Raven Riders Crossover Novella After identifying her employer's dangerous enemies, Jessica Jakes takes refuge at the compound of the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. Fellow Hard Ink tattooist and Raven leader Ike Young promises to keep Jess safe for as long as it takes, which would be perfect if his close, personal, round-the-clock protection didn't make it so hard to hide just how much she wants him—and always has. Ike Young loved and lost a woman in trouble once before. The last thing he needs is alone time with the sexiest and feistiest woman he's ever known, one he's purposely kept at a distance for years. Now, Ike's not sure he can keep his hands or his heart to himself—or that he even wants to anymore. And that means he has to do whatever it takes to hold on to Jess forever.

  Review:

So I'll be the first to admit I'm a huge Laura Kaye fan so i'm probably not the most objective person when it comes to her books.  That doesn't mean this book isn't fabulous and a perfect lead in to the forthcoming Raven Riders series.

I loved getting to see a little of what went down in the last Hard Ink book but from a different perspective. And I also loved getting a snapshot seeing two of the secondary Hard Ink characters find there own slice of HEA.  Jess and Ike have fabulous chemistry and i hope we get to see more of there characters as the raven riders series goes along.

Definitely a 5 out of 5 for me.

HARD AS STEEL EXCERPT: Good Night

I’m thrilled to be here celebrating the release of my 21st book, HARD AS STEEL! After a midnight break-in at her apartment, close friends and Hard Ink Tattoo co-workers Ike Young and Jessica Jakes are forced into hiding—and forced to confront the feelings they’ve always denied for one another. I have always adored friends-to-lovers and forced proximity stories, and HARD AS STEEL delivers that and more, including a taste of both my award-winning and best-selling Hard Ink and upcoming Raven Riders series! Check out this excerpt:

“Night,” she said, heading up the steps.

“Night,” he replied, watching her hips sway in a pair of silky black shorts. Combined with the form-fitting black tank top and those perfect-for-grabbing pigtails, she was going to make it damn hard for him to fall asleep tonight.

Damn hard, indeed.

He turned out the light and went horizontal, the soft couch so comfortable against his sore back even though it was a little too short to fit his whole body. He adjusted his erection, willing it to get with the no-sex-with-Jess program. Problem was, in the quiet darkness, Ike could hear her moving around in the loft. Soft footsteps on the wood floor. The shifting of covers. The squeaking of the box spring. And all that did was invite his imagination out to play. Easy since he had so much material to work with after sleeping with Jess wrapped around him the past two nights.

His shoulders and chest knew what the silk of her hair felt like when it skimmed over his skin. His hip knew the heat of her core when she slept with her knee across his thighs. His hands had memorized the curve of her lower back and the shape of her biceps and just how much of her luscious ass he could fit in his palms.

Ike knew what her mouth tasted like, how tight her legs could wrap around his waist, and how fucking beautiful the combination of ink and steel was on her skin.

Jesus, his cock was never going to let him go to sleep at this rate.

And was it fucking hot in here or what? He tossed the cover off, wishing he had a ceiling fan downstairs, too. Something for the to-do list around this place.

Ike sighed and flung his hand over his head. And wondered why the hell he was torturing himself this way.

He could just go up there and get in the bed—and take what he wanted, and what he knew Jess would be only too happy to give. Neither of them was immune to the mutual attraction that had always been there between them. And her reaction to his kiss the other day made it crystal fucking clear that she was waiting for him to make his move.

Jess had plenty of one-night stands and casual hook-ups. Ike knew she was perfectly capable of handling that kind of relationship.

Except.

Except Ike wasn’t a clueless idiot, and he wasn’t in the habit of doing things he knew damn right well would hurt someone he cared about. Jess wore her emotions like she wore her ink—out loud and unapologetically. He had a pretty good idea that she was rocking some more-than-friendly and more-than-physical feelings for him. Right now, she thought them unrequited, and that kept a kind of sexually tense equilibrium between them. But if he let himself off the leash—even just once—he’d very likely raise and dash her hopes, give her all kinds of mixed signals, and screw things up royally between them.

He shook his head and heaved a deep breath. If he wasn’t going to go the distance with her, he had no business taking the first step.

End of.
