Spotlight: My Boogie Woogie Bugle Guy by DL Jackson

When Grace Daniels goes to the cemetery to visit the grave of her twin brother, she meets a soldier, there for the same reason, or at least that’s what she believes until he tells her about the blind date her brother arranged before he was killed in combat.
It’s the date of her dreams. Big band, brass and sass, Madame Eve from 1NightStand has set her up for an unforgettable night, a WWII swing dance party. Unfortunately she’s having trouble letting go of her past, and is afraid to take the chance given to her.
Sergeant Frank Winters is an Army trumpet player who travels with the Color Guard, a great dancer and six feet four inches of eye candy that could make her an addict. He’s also a soldier and soldiers can get killed. Grace doesn’t have the heart to lose someone again, but Frank knows a good thing when he sees it, and he’s determined to show her in one night, she’s got more to lose if she walks away.

Excerpt:
“For my next number, I’m gonna play something a little more laid back.” A slurry voice rang out over the headstones, echoing through what was supposed to be a closed graveyard. A trumpet began to play. Dah, dah, dum. Dah, dah, squawk.
She bolted up. “What the hell?” Believing she was alone, she’d bared her soul to her brother. She certainly wouldn’t have had that conversation if she’d known someone lingered nearby. She turned around three hundred and sixty degrees, until her gaze landed on a mausoleum backlit by the moon. A man stood on the roof with brass to his lips, butchering Taps. In his other hand, he held a bottle of what was probably in the glass on Geordie’s grave.
Grace swatted the debris from her pants and stomped toward the mausoleum, irritation prickling up the back of her neck. She stopped at the base of the stone structure and glared up. “What are you doing here at three in the morning? The cemetery is closed.”
“Whoa, hot chick in the audience.” He swayed, threatening to fall off the roof. “Feel free to toss your panties onto the stage in appreciation.”
She clicked her flashlight on and cast the beam on him. “I suggest you get down from there before you fall or I have to arrest you for public intoxication.”
He gave her a shit-eating grin. “You got handcuffs?”
“Oh, God,” she groaned under her breath. “Of course I’ve got handcuffs. I’m the police.”
He rocked and blinked his eyes. “You’re hot for a cop.”
“Thank you, I think. Now get down.”
“Okay.” He jumped, hit the edge of the roof, rolled off, and dropped like a stone at her feet, doing it with all the grace of a bag of potatoes. Yet he’d managed to keep hold of the bottle and not spill a drop. He put the horn to his lips and blew, but nothing more than a raspberry came from the mouthpiece. “For my next number, I’m going to play....” He looked up at her. “Any requests?”
“Yeah, tell me where you’re staying, so I can take you to your room.”
“Easy, girl. What kind of guy do you think I am?”

On a personal note I have read this book and thoroughly enjoyed it definitely a 4-Star read.

Guest Blog: Executive Decision Takes a Stand by Margie Church

Executive Decision
Margie Church

Executive Decision Takes a Stand

Executive Decision isn't only about a gay romance between two consenting adults. It also makes a statement about homophobic behaviors. Reading the blurb, you get a sense that something happened at the office, but what was it? And how did it impact the careers of both men in the story?
Madame Eve brings these two men back together to answer the questions about what happened on that fateful day and set the record straight between Hunter and Logan. I hope you'll have the courage to make a difference if you have the chance to step up to the plate. Enjoy Executive Decision.

Blurb: Executive Decision by Margie Church

The prospect of getting caught while having sex is a powerful aphrodisiac for Logan Carlyle. He's viewed as the leader on the sales force, but in bed, he's a submissive all the way.

Hunter James is just as adventurous as Logan. He's lower in the sales ranks, but he's the top when it comes to his relationship with Logan.

When Logan's thrill-seeking desires create chaos with their careers and severs their relationship, Madame Evangeline's expertise is required.

Adult Excerpt:

Logan Carlyle lubed the anal plug, then braced against the narrow stall’s wall while easing the flared toy between his ass cheeks. Perspiration dotted his forehead. His dick reacted instantly. He clenched his jaw tight to swallow a groan. That feels so…damn…good.
When he felt more in control, he pulled up his underwear and fiddled with the fabric to ensure his snug briefs would hold his little toy in place while he walked back to his office. His belt buckle jingled softly as he drew his expensive slacks over his thighs. While washing his hands, he mumbled a few mindless comments to another colleague at the sinks.
But all he could really think about was the hot sex he’d be having within the hour.
The plug created fantastic friction against his prostate, arousing Logan more with every step he took. Hiding his erection while he walked through the busy hallways was always a challenge. A delicious one he looked forward to.
A colleague from marketing stopped him in the hallway. “Do you think Kespers is going to accept another million pounds of Bis-A this year?”
“Cold day in hell, I think.” He answered her with complete aplomb, while his mind did cartwheels over the erotic secret hidden between his ass cheeks.
He closed his office door and hung his suit coat on the hanger. His cock pressed tight against his zipper, and he hoped his lover, Hunter, wouldn’t be delayed. In fifteen minutes, the building would clear out for the day. By then, anticipation would be driving Logan into a sexual frenzy. He shifted in his seat, trying to ease the pressure in his crotch, but all that accomplished was delivering a zip of pleasure to his ass.
The ticking clock was as torturous to his nerves as a dripping faucet. He wanted to rip the noisy timepiece off the wall and tear the batteries out. He answered a few benign emails and waited. Impatiently.
A soft knock on the door made his stomach lurch.
He glanced at the time. Perfect. He cleared his throat, intending to sound as authoritative as possible. “Come in.”

Review: Remedy Maker by Sheri Fredricks

Remedy Maker
Sheri Fredricks

Man by day, Centaur by night, Rhycious is a remedy maker who needs his own healing.
He's the royal physician, famous for his cures. War and posttraumatic stress disorder has broken his spirit, preventing him from finding true happiness. Then a direct order from the queen to investigate an uprising forces him out of his secluded cabin at the edge of the forest.
Patience is an optimistic, good-natured Wood Nymph who works as a mediator to ensure harmony within the Nymph sector.
Environmental pollution in the aquifer stream that feeds the taproot tree of her heart is slowly killing her. Resigned to the fact she will not live long, she sets out to discover the mysterious disappearance of her sister. Experience has taught her to deny herself the love of a male, but the gruff Centaur is different. He doesn't push his expectations on her, only his healing nature.
When Rhycious loses his grip on reality, he believes his inability to control his disorder will drive Patience away. Nevertheless, desire flares, and Patience draws him close. Kidnapping and betrayal turn their mythic joint venture into a deadly bout.
Will their love endure when survival hinges on trusting each other?

Review:
When I first agreed to review this book I wasn't really sure what to expect. I must admit  though, I was pleasantly surprised.

Remedy Maker is the story of Rhy the shape shifter, Centaur by night and Man by day. And Patience the free spirited Wood Nymph who's turn of phrase is unique to say the least. Though a seemingly unusual couple they seem to work together beautifully.

Sheri has crafted an engaging read that leaves no detail uncovered and provides plenty of steamy visuals.

If there is one negative about the book I thought it was some of the language. Sometimes I got a little lost and I would have to go back and read a section because I just missed the key point of the paragraph. This may be more to do with the fact that I am and Aussie though than the way it was written.

Overall I give this book  4 out of 5 Definitely recommend it.

Author:
Always on the hunt for the uncommon things in life, author Sheri Fredricks thrives on creating adventures in her mythological kingdom for her readers.
A former engineering secretary, Sheri lives on the beautiful central coast of California. "I wanted to move away from inflexible right angles and create an unboxed world with no boundaries." A voracious reader since her early years, Sheri found her brain crowded with stories and characters of her own. "Ultimately," she says, "my husband encouraged me to write them all down."
Sheri loves to spend time at home. A computer hutch keeps her focused on creating stories, but the panoramic view of life on a ranch will call her outside to play in the sun.

Excerpt:
Holding the mug with one hand, she used the other to push off the cushions. Her knees knocked together as she strained to stand.
“Patience!” Samuel hurried to grasp her arm and help steady her.
“Why is it that people keep telling me to be patient?” Rhy said, louder than necessary. Exasperated, he pushed up his sleeves and rolled his eyes. “Samuel, watch her—”
The hot chocolate sloshed out of the cup, and the girl wavered on her feet. Samuel took the drink from her, but not before it spilled across the blue throw rug. Clutching at Sam’s shoulder, she all but pulled him down to the couch with her.
Rhycious huffed out a breath, weaved around the couch, and swept her up into his arms. Prepared for revulsion from bare Nymph skin next to his, he wasn’t ready for her warmth to invade his senses. With her body resting in his arms, his mind spun and assimilated the physical sensations.
Pine, spring grass—scents of the woods. She smelled so damn good that he allowed himself to enjoy another deep inhale. Long, walnut-colored locks flowed like a glossy waterfall over his arm and past his hip. Her loose hair swung in an arc when he turned for the bedroom.
“Patience—”
“Yeah, Sam. I heard you the first time,” Rhy said.
“No.” Samuel’s tone stopped him, and he made a half turn back. Sam’s mouth was set in a mulish line. “Her name is Patience.”
“I’m sorry.” Surrounded by a soft green circle, her pupils were offset by a sea of blue. Her eyes were tinted with a splash of yellow, and they implored him to forgive her. Shifting her in his arms only brought her face closer. Her arms circled his neck for stability.
And he was in no way stable.

Excerpt:
Zach fumbled the plastic card in the metal slot. When the mechanism whirred and clicked, he twisted the knob, but paused. “I have one rule.” His gaze never left her face.
Trisha met his hungry stare, her lips parting. “What’s that?”
“I don’t share.”
A thrill rippled through her body at the possessive note in his deep, rasping voice.
“Me either.”
“You can still walk away.”
Walk away? Was he nuts? She’d waited months for this moment, for freedom. Still, as his eyes raked over her body, waiting for her decision, a tiny seed of doubt wiggled in the back of her mind. She squared her shoulders. Nope. She wasn’t going home until she knew what made her eyes roll to the back of her head and she wanted him to show her.
“I’m not...”
He shouldered open the door and dragged her to him. The cool kiss of the textured wall greeted her bare shoulders as his mouth, hot and demanding, found hers. She sighed against his lips, jerking his shirt free from his waistband. He cupped her breast, his thumb stroking her nipple. Fire danced through her veins, pooled low. Her heart skipped a beat when he yanked the chiffon from her shoulders, ripping the sheer fabric.
Lifting his head, he flashed a quick smile, his mist-gray eyes shining with heat and mischief. “I hope you weren’t too attached to this dress.”
She didn’t care how he got her clothes off, just as long as he got them off. Her pulse raced and her breath quickened when the thin silk of her slip followed the fate of her dress. Trisha slid her hands beneath his shirt, his skin warm and smooth beneath her palms.
“Now what am I supposed to wear home?”
Zach grabbed her wrists, shackling them in one large hand and raising her arms above her head. She gasped as her breasts thrust upwards, straining for attention. “We’ll worry about that later.” He dipped his head, capturing one taut peak in his mouth.
She arched against him as desire further hardened her nipples and set her blood to simmering. His fingers brushed the curve of her hip, before drifting lower, tracing the sensitive skin below her garter belt.
“You’re a bit naughty, Trish,” he whispered against her mouth.
Her answering chuckle melted into a moan when his fingers stroked her damp pussy. His eyes widened when his hand met no barrier.
“Very naughty indeed,” he murmured. He leaned away, cool air skittering across her heated flesh. “I’ve waited so long for this.”
“Too long,” she agreed.
Pivoting, he grabbed her hand and led her into the bedroom. The king-size bed dominated the room and sat in front of the mirrored doors to the closet. Artificial candlelight flickered around the room, casting muted shadows against the wallpaper while the soft scent of jasmine wafted through the air.
Warm fuzzies squeezed her heart. Despite being a day early he had surprised her. She stepped forward, her nylon-clad feet skimming against something cool and satiny. Rose petals trailed from the door to the bed. She perched on the edge of the bed, too overwhelmed to speak.
When she focused on him, he watched her with a hooded expression.
“It seems like you’ve thought about this, haven’t you?”
He tucked a curl behind her ear. “I get one chance to make a lasting impression.”
“Thank you.”
His eyes widened when she shoved him back on the bed and straddled his legs. The bulge grew and hardened beneath her thigh. She worked at loosening his tie. Once unknotted, she tossed it aside and focused on the buttons. With each button released from its mooring she revealed more of his amazing body. She pushed the shirt aside to trace the large, colorful dragon/koi tattoo that began on his left pec and wrapped around his bicep to disappear onto his back. Anticipation coiled in her belly. Oh how she wanted to find out how far his tattoo went.
“You’ve tortured me enough tonight and I think it’s time you paid up,” she murmured against his lips. She skimmed light, teasing kisses from his mouth to his jaw.
A startled gasp escaped her lips when he shifted and blanketed her body with his. He captured her wrists in one large hand and held them above her head.
“One day, very soon, I’m going have you tied and helpless beneath me.”
She sucked in a breath, holding his gaze, unwilling to admit how much she wanted the same thing.
He traced the swell of her breasts just above the neckline of her corset. “But there is one image of you I can’t seem to get out of my head.” He touched his lips to hers in a long, drugging kiss that left her craving more. “Are you game?”
“I’m yours for the weekend.”
He chuckled, a smoldering look scorching her body. She responded to that look. “Oh, I like how that sounds.”
Heat crept into her cheeks as she realized what she’d said. “I—uh, yeah.”
He nipped at her neck, even as he settled deeper into the vee of her thighs. The heavy bulge of his erection rubbed against her core. Instinctively she raised her hips in greeting.
“I want to watch you, beautiful,” he murmured against her lips.
She stiffened. “Watch me what?”
He rolled off her and helped her to sitting. “I want to watch you climax, before I send you over the edge again.”

Spotlight: Five Alarm Lust by Elise Whyles

Five Alarm Lust by Elise Whyles

Survivor Gillian Hilliard is finally healing from a nightmare past. Fearing no man will ever find her attractive, she hides behind simple attire and large glasses. When Gillian meets firefighter Jack Payle, she is instantly attracted, and enjoys a wild night of sex with him. But in the cold light of day she’s torn apart by guilt and shame, and retreats to the familiar comfort of her simple, if unfulfilling, life.
After years of chasing the wrong kind of woman, Jack is shocked by the instant attraction he feels for the mousy historian with shadows in her eyes and passion simmering beneath her surface. Jack can’t get past the lust firing his blood or the memories of her response to his touch, for passionate, sexy Gillian is everything he’s ever wanted. Are they strong enough to face down the demons haunting Gillian? Can she trust the man who holds her heart with her darkest secrets and accept his help to overcome the shadows of her past? Or will the darkness destroy them both?

EXCERPT:
“That’s it, Miss Hilliard. As per your request, I leftmost of it down.” The young woman leaned down, her hand on Gilli’s shoulder. “You’re going to knock ’em dead.”
Gilli offered a short, weak laugh and patted the girl’s hand. “Thanks.” She slipped her glasses on and rose to totter toward the door on the stilettos her mother persisted she wear. As she exited, the door closed behind her with a click. Gilli turned, smacking face first into a tall, hard wall of flesh before her. Heat seared her body at the touch of his hands on the bare flesh of her back. Putting a couple of inches between them, Gilli glanced upward. Her heart dropped before galloping in place.
Dark brown hair curled over a tanned forehead, green eyes as dark as pine stared at her, bemusement sparkling in them. “Excuse me, miss.”
She shuddered at the slow drawl curling like a lover’s touch into her core. Her labia pulsed beneath the lace of her panties. A flush crept along her throat to heat her cheeks and she ducked her head to hide the wave of color washing over her face. She cleared her throat. “No, pardon me. Entirely my fault.”
Scurrying down the hall, she gasped at the sensitivity in her breasts. Heavy, full, the nipples throbbed beneath the layers of satin and lace. Desperate to cool her blood, she darted past a couple of women and into the ladies room. The thin metal door offered minimal protection as she locked herself into a stall. A thud filled the silence as she let her forehead drop and leaned against the icy metal and inhaled.
Gods above, Zeus in the flesh right before me. What I wouldn’t give to have him … but he’s not going…Arousal scorched along her veins, pooling between her legs and soaking her underwear. Like venom, her ex’s sneering tone filled her mind. You couldn’t turn a light bulb on, Gillian, sexless. You should get a boob job. Can’t count…
The soft clunk of the heavy public bathroom’s door opening preceded Barbara’s biting tone. “Gillian, don’t think I didn’t see you…”
An uneasy cringe escaped in spite of the relief at the shattered memory. Gillian squeezed her eyes shut. “Mother, can I not use the facilities without you harping at me?” Gillian smoothed her skirt down, rolling her shoulders forward in the hopes of hiding her erect nipples. “I’ll be therein a moment.”
“Well hurry up, they’ve already got everyone seated. Goodness, child, you’d think you’d remember this was my wedding!” The bathroom door clicked shut on her mother’s tirade.
With a roll of her eyes, Gillian stepped out of the stall, shot a look at her reflection in the mirror and inhaled.
“There’s no point in getting hot and bothered over the likes of him. He ain’t going to want you.” Gilli waved a hand at her reflection, a perfect imitation of her mother. “Horn-rimmed glasses, mousy-looking hair, notits. Didn’t Mike teach you a damn thing, Gillian? Men don’t want a mouse, they want a sex pot and you’re not it.”
With a quick shake of her head, she smoothed her skirt down, sucked in a deep breath, and pulled open the bathroom door. She glanced around carefully before darting into the hallway.
Pressed close to the wall, she took her place before her mother, feeling like an over-stuffed Easter egg as the wedding march began to play. A smile pasted on her face, she gripped the flowers in her hand tighter and began the slow but steady shuffle toward the preacher.
Focused on getting there without falling, Gilli gasped at the man standing next to the altar. Laughing green eyes watched her, his lips turned upward at the corners. A slight shadow covered his square jaw. The dark suit he wore clung to his broad shoulders, tucking in at his waist. She wondered if beneath his suit coat, his ass was as good as the rest of him. Embarrassed, she stepped back, narrowly missing tripping on her own gown’s hem. Her mother’s pointed clearing of her throat drew her attention to the woman sashaying along, the yards and yards of tulle and lace out of place on a woman in her fifties—who’d had six previous husbands and more lovers then Gillian thought healthy. The unspoken warning in Barb’s eyes pierced clearer than any shouting match could be. There would be hell to pay if any attention slipped from the bride.
“Typical.” Gilli glared at the flowers, disgust rolling in her nauseous gut. She offered a prayer the ceremony would draw to a quick end so she could ditch the shoes, the flowers, and find a quiet corner to relax in, with the help of an expensive bottle of champagne.
She shot a glance across the aisle, heat suffusing her face when she caught sex in a cummerbund’s eye. Screw the wine—what she wouldn’t give to get lost in him. Maybe if she’d been different… Pushing aside the vague thought, she focused on the drone of her mother’s voice as she spoke her vows.

Spotlight: At Sunset by Tamaria Soana

At Sunset by Tamaria Sona

Two women, Myrtle Beach, sexy lifeguards—what more could a girl ask for?
Kimberly doesn't believe she could attract the handsome lifeguard sitting on the stand keeping a keen eye on the beach patrons. Muscular, lean and sexy, surely he's not looking at her, but when a beach accident brings them eye-to-eye, she finds herself lost in his gaze.

Daniel works everyday watching the beach-goers, keeping an eagle eye out for problems along the white sandy shores. Sexy women capture his attention on a daily basis, but no one grabs him like Kimberly. Gorgeous and curvy in all the right places, he can't seem to keep his mind on the business at hand as she tans herself in the hot summer sun.

Can the pain of past relationships be overcome for two strangers to find love at Sunset?

Excerpt:

Kim sat up after about an hour to grab the water bottle out of her bag. She looked around and noticed the lifeguard glancing in their direction. Obviously, he was looking at Amber. No one ever noticed her when Amber was around. Amber was drop-dead gorgeous, with a killer body, and Kim thought of herself as just an average looking girl. She was five foot three with light brown wavy hair, hazel eyes, and a small frame. She felt that her breasts were too small, and she hated that her body didn't really have many curves. At twenty years old, she wished her body was more shapely. Out of the corner of her eye she watched the beautiful blond lifeguard scan the crowd as she pulled her hair up into a bun.
“Amber, I think that blond lifeguard over there likes you. He keeps looking over here,” Kim said, as she nudged her friend out of her sleepy state.
“Who? What? Where?” Amber replied, looking around as she sat up.
“Over there.” Kim pointed just as he turned his head and caught her pointing at him. She  ducked her head and blushed in embarrassment.
“Um, Kim, I think the hot lifeguard likes you,” Amber giggled.
“I...I don't think so. No one's ever interested in me.”
“Kim, stop it. You’re beautiful. For some reason you’ve never understood that.”
Kim shook her head. Amber just didn’t understand because she was beautiful and men noticed her all of the time. “There is no way he would be interested in me. Just look at him. He could have any girl here.”
“Yes, he could, but he seems to have his eyes on you.”
Kim was happy when Amber dropped the subject. She adjusted herself on the blanket and closed her eyes. Images of the blond lifeguard fluttered through her mind. She sighed as she pushed all thoughts of him away. Guys like him never went for girls like her. Kim couldn’t settle her mind down and get comfortable; she needed to get away from what was causing her to feel so flustered.
“I’m hungry and I think I’m beached out for the day,” Amber stated as she sat up.
“Me too. Let’s call it a day and get something to eat. Maybe we can play miniature golf tonight or something.”
As Kim and Amber were packing up, Amber poked her.
“What the hell, Amber? That hurt.”
“Look! Mister hot, blond lifeguard guy is watching you. You should go talk to him.”
“Have you lost your mind?”
“You need to live a little and take some chances.’
“Whatever.”
“You’re impossible. I hope he’s working tomorrow, because you need to meet him.”
“Why? We live states away from each other. Even if he was interested, why bother?”
“Oh Kim, you’re so in need of a hot summer fling. When was the last time you got—”
“Shut up!”
Kim was seething. She loved Amber but the girl never knew when to stop pushing. Amber looked at her and just shook her head.
“You know the best way to get over a guy is to get under another,” Amber said for the umpteenth time as they headed toward the rental car.
“Really Amber, your advice to me is to get laid? So having sex with some random guy will magically heal my heart and make forget about Michael?” Kim snapped.
“I’m sorry. I’m only trying to help.”
“I know, and I love you for it. Just back off.”
