Spotlight: Arranged Love by @LaceyWolfe

Arranged Love by Lacey Wolfe

They think they're fooling their parents, but really, the joke's on them.

Kayla Ames's parents could win an award in meddling. Every time she turns around, they're setting her up with someone new. Try as she might, she can't convince them to butt out of her love life.

Ryan Newell isn't looking for love. After having his heart torn to shreds by his ex, he's determined to never again fall in love and leave himself that vulnerable to being hurt. His parents, however, believe he just needs some help finding the right woman, and their friends' daughter, Kayla, might be a perfect match.

Realizing they both have the same problem—parents who won't stop nagging them about finding a partner—Ryan and Kayla agree to an arrangement of sorts. All they have to do is pretend to date, and they don't even have to see each other, they can discuss the details of their "dates" via email. But then the email conversations lead to real dates, and Kayla finds herself struggling to keep her feelings for Ryan in check as he's made it clear love will not enter into the equation for him. Then Kayla's parents suddenly announce they're getting a divorce, and she begins to wonder if maybe Ryan has the right idea.

When it all gets to be too much for Kayla, she has a hard decision to make—agree to stay with Ryan and never experience love, or walk away for her chance to find it.

Leaning forward, Kayla grabbed the remote and turned the TV off. It was early still and since she wasn't tired, sleep wasn't an option. She could go out again. Maybe call a friend to go to a club or something. Or she could go back to the bar from last night…no, no she couldn't.

If she went out though, she'd have to change. And she was really comfortable. She grabbed the remote again, and as the TV turned on, she swore she heard someone tap on her door. Was Bunny chewing on something she shouldn't be?

Kayla got off the couch, but saw the rabbit had taken a corner and was lying there, far away from the front door. She peeked through the peephole and, to her surprise, she saw Doug, or whatever his name was. Why was he there? And what was he carrying in his hands?

Taking a deep breath, she opened the door. "Hi."

"It's nice to see you again." He smiled an oh-so-sexy grin. "Your parents sent me with food. They insisted I get this to you right away."

"They did, huh?"

He held the bag out to her and she took it. "Could I come in?"

She sucked in her bottom lip and weighed her choices. Send him away and be done with this, or see what he wants. What did she have to lose? "Sure."

Doug brushed past her into her house. She stood back a moment, watching him as he glanced around and then finally took a seat on her couch. Kayla joined the mystery man in the living room, tossing the bag of food on the coffee table as she sat on the love seat opposite of the couch he was on. Her stomach rumbled as she inhaled the aroma from the bag now sitting on the coffee table.

"So, what brings you by, besides the food?" she asked, and quickly added, "Please tell me your real name as well. It's only fair since you know mine."

"Kayla, and it's a lovely name. Mine is actually Ryan. Ryan Newell." He took a moment to rub his temple and proceeded. "Obviously, our parents are interested in us hooking up."

Hooking up…they'd covered that already. "I'm sorry. My parents are a bit over the top."

"I'd have to agree. Yours are a little worse than mine. Usually my parents leave me alone, but with your folks, it was like they were double-teaming me. They feel very strongly about you and I getting to know one another."

"Figures. I'd say we accomplished that in a way they probably weren't wanting."

He grinned again. Her heart fluttered. She needed to pack this man up and get him out of there.

"Why don't we give them what they want?"

What did he say? He couldn't really want to go along with them. "Excuse me."

"Let's date, for them. It'll get them to leave us alone."

She laughed. He wasn't serious, was he? "Brilliant plan, but I'll pass for now."

"Just hear me out. I'm not looking to fall in love. But if we pretend to be dating, our parents won't try to set us up anymore. We don't even have to see one another. We can discuss our dates and be on the same page with our stories."

"Wait." She held her hand up, staring at the dark-haired man that made her stomach do summersaults. "You're saying we aren't going to actually date. We never have to see one another. But our parents will think we are."

He nodded.

"I'm in." Kayla shrugged. "What could go wrong?"

It may be too late for Natasha to escape two she-vamps with one big secret…

You are cordially invited to the event of the year
The Vampire Masquerade Ball
Sincerely, Aleese and Eaven

When Natasha Edwards receives a personal invitation to the exclusive Vampire Masquerade, it's exactly the break she's been waiting for. It's her chance to impress national news syndicates, not to mention an opportunity to do some snooping into the disappearances of several women who were last seen within the Underground sect. But the two she-vamps have other plans for her.

Aleese's infatuation with the sexy news reporter cannot be denied, and Eaven has never been one to ignore her wife's desires. The blonde beauty is perfect for their plans, and once she's inside their home, the trap is set. Natasha is easy prey. She's responsive to their touch, and sweet as honey to taste. They want nothing more than to indulge their fantasies in every way imaginable.

Natasha finds exquisite pleasure of a kind she's never experienced with the two dangerous vampires. But when she stumbles upon the truth behind the missing women, will it be too much for one small-town reporter to handle?

Excerpt:

The two women flanking Nat left her feeling fluttery with the odd combination of awareness and anxiety. The she-vamps could easily eat her whole without a trace left for the police to find, making her their fourth missing woman. And despite that niggling of fear in the back of her mind, she couldn't keep her gaze off Eaven's cleavage. Perfect globes meant to spill from one's hands and, when free of constraint, sway with every movement. A body like hers was made for seduction and sexual pleasure. Ripe and lush, to be savored and enjoyed—a hedonist's playground for delights of the flesh.

Nat swallowed and turned her attention to the other. Aleese aroused her in a different way. Graceful hand gestures accented her speech, each movement as fluid as a ballet dancer's. Agile, lithe, and confident in every breath, a study of symmetry and beauty against her partner's blatant sexual appeal. And her lips…God, her lips were incredible. Pouty and red, perfect to kiss, perfect to whisper sweet nothings in someone's ear. Nat's heart rate kicked up, and the room started a slow spin, like a carousal ride. She stumbled back from her hosts, needing space.

"I'm sorry, but I need some fresh air," she explained when they shot her questioning looks.

"Of course." Aleese took her hand and guided her toward a pair of open French doors. Outside on a small patio, a cool breeze stirred. "We can be a bit much in one great big swallow."

"I'll be okay. I've had a heavy work schedule."

Which was the truth; the last few weeks had been a madhouse at the station due to elections in the fall. A good explanation for the way her thoughts dashed this way and that. Sleep had also been hit-and-miss since she'd received the invite to the ball. The poise and professionalism she'd planned on bringing with her had evaporated the moment she'd stepped into the ballroom. Now she felt like a floundering fish out of water.

Aleese clutched her hand with both of hers, their warmth sending tingles over Nat's skin. Another thing she hadn't counted on…the attraction she had for the two vampires.

"We're delighted you could join us. The ball can be so stodgy when it's the same people year after year." Her eyelashes fluttered. "Having new blood is a real treat."

Nat found herself transfixed with the way Aleese's mouth moved. It took a moment for her to piece the sentence together.

"I appreciate the invite, though I'm curious as to why you'd want me here."

Aleese peered up, her gaze almost doting. "Eaven and I respect you as a female reporter. It's such a man's world, and you're making a name for yourself, so why wouldn't we want to meet you?" She clutched Nat's hand tighter, leaning into her arm. "So were you one of those little girls who dreamed of attending a vampire ball?"

Every young girl dreamed of doing such a thing. "Of course."

Nat felt uneasy. Perhaps it was because she stood outside, beneath a full moon, with the most beautiful vampire she'd ever met. The silvery moonlight gave the she-vamp's skin an ethereal glow. She wanted to reach out and touch Aleese's cheek to see if it were as rose petal soft as it looked.

Interview questions… Nat tried to recall the list she'd written and studied days before, but every single one failed her. Aleese tilted her head, her lips so very close…

Nat cleared her throat. "I understand you've had three women go missing from your sect." Not what she wanted to open with, but the only question making itself available in her scrambled brain.

Something glimmered across Aleese's face. An emotion Nat couldn't pin down before her coy smile returned. "I wouldn't say they've disappeared, we know exactly where they've gone."

"Where?"

Aleese licked her lips, her pink tongue an invitation for Nat's mind to play out vivid fantasies. Her fingers brushed up Nat's forearm, and Nat suddenly couldn't catch her breath.

"There you are," Eaven cut in, joining them on the patio. "Feeling better?"

"Yes, yes I am, thank you." Nat tried to move away from Aleese, but found herself trapped against the patio's rail.

Eaven moved close, so close their breasts touched. Nat met the she-vamp's gaze. Her eyes reflected the silvery night light, leaving them even more pale and unearthly. Nearly void of color. With no place to run, Nat could only hold her ground and hope her legs didn't fail her. Heat built within her core like an inferno as a sweet ache settled between her thighs.

Eaven looked to her wife. "They are playing our waltz, my love." She moved her attention to Nat's mouth. "Would you mind if I took the first dance with our new kitten?"

"Only if I can have the second," Aleese purred in return.

Review:

This is a superb follow up to the first book in the series Wife for Hire. As usual Christine Bell has hit the mark with a witty sexy read and characters that are completely loveable.

Gavin reads exactly as he is pictured on the cover and i really wanted to have him protect me like he protects Sarabeth.

I adored Sarabeth's transformation in this book and that she managed to get the stick out of her posterior.

Overall a wonderful read 5 out of 5 can't wait to see where this series goes next.

Review:

So i will confess i actually started this series with the last book The Cinderella Seduction which i read and was supposed to review in December but i suspect i may have forgotten to post the review. But it was the reading of The Cinderella Seduction that made me jump at reviewing this bundle. Because the moment i finished the last book i instantly wanted to go back and read all the predecessors.  And that is pretty much what this bundle is the entire series minus the one novella.

Operation Cinderella

This is a fabulous start to the series Ross was a little hypocritical for my liking at the start but i suspect that was the point. I loved that Hope was able to turn that around and have me lovving him by the end a little like how Macie felt.

Sexy dads are one of my favourite types of hero's and Ross definitely lived up to my hopes. I also loved that Macie's transformation was a little bit of a reverse Cinderella.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

The Cinderella Makeover

I think this is technically the third book in the series but it is the second in the bundle. Francesca ex wife of the Ross from book one has hit a bit of a dating slump and is insanely jealous of her ex and the happiness he has found. She is also very lonely missing her daughter a lot since she chose to live with her father on a permanent basis.

Backed into a corner she agrees to be a Fairy Godmother for a new reality tv series.

This is where she runs into bane of her existence Gregory Knickerbocker ( on a side note but hero surname i have ever encountered). His publicity shyness ruined her business and her reputation and she is furious to see him one the show.

Greg fits the geek to sexy model perfectly and i love that the Cinderella transformation this time was the bloke.  That being said Francesca does her own share of transforming.

A great read.

The Cinderella Seduction

As I said above i actually read this book first. But loved that not only does it provide a great story in it's own right but it also ties up the story lines from the other books nicely as well.

I am going to have to admit Mediterranean men don't normally do it for me but Hope has written Nick in such a manner that you can't help but fall in love with him. of course he has the sexy daddy thing going for him which i always enjoy.

This book has a bit of a 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' feel to it but that in no way deteriorates from the book.

Definitely a great read.

Overall i give this bundle/series 4.5 out of 5  Loved it.

Review:

As a bit of a fan of Jackie Ashenden's work I jumped at the chance to review her latest book. And I am so glad I did.

Hollywood Blackmail is the first of a new multi-author series from Entangled's Indulgence line.

I'm going to admit at the start i thought Ash was a bit of a self important jerk and i was wishing Lizzie would just tell him where to go. But that is probably the great thing about this book because by the end i was totally rooting (cheering of the Americans) for Ash.

I also loved Lizzie's back story in this era of reality tv it seemed very pertinent to me.

The author quote on the cover totally sums up how i feel about this book. Definitely worth a read.

Overall i give this 4.5 out of 5

Spotlight: It Must Be Fate by Lacey Wolfe

It Must Be Fate by Lacey Wolfe

Sometimes the future lies in the past…

Sandy Collins hasn’t thought about him in years, not since he broke her heart and broke off their engagement. She’s built a great nursing career for herself, and most of all, she’s happy. Until she ruined it by walking into that staff meeting…

After the passing of his grandmother, Daniel and his daughter Keri have moved back to town and taken up residence in her house. Things are looking up after several rough years, but on the first day of work at his new job as a pediatrician, Daniel gets an unexpected surprise—in the form of a nurse he’s never been able to forget.

As much as she tries to fight it, Sandy can’t deny the attraction. Daniel makes it clear that he’s sorry and wants another shot, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes. But the last thing Sandy wants is to relive the misery from the past. But how can she resist when it seems as though fate is stepping in?

Excerpt:

Grabbing her purse, Sandy tossed in her phone and keys and climbed out of the car. Her breath caught from the sight of him. Daniel was waiting for her by the door. She could tell he’d come from the office in his pressed khakis and light blue button-down shirt. His green eyes lit up when he saw her.

She took a deep breath and stared across the parking lot. She smiled at him, but couldn’t find the words to say hello. His gaze swept over her body as he opened the door with a gentlemanly smile. She couldn’t help but be glad he seemed to appreciate what he saw. As she entered the restaurant, she wondered if he was checking out her ass.

After they were seated, a waiter arrived, placing a bow of chips and salsa on the table. After they gave their drink order, she finally started to relax. Which hadn’t been easy. It had been so long since she’d actually talked to him, other than telling him she didn’t want to. Her stomach was in knots.

“Thank you for meeting me.” Daniel grabbed a chip.

“You’re right. We do need to talk. I’m not sure how long we’ll work together, but for the time being I guess we should be friendly.” Sandy took a chip as well. “Besides, the past is the past. Let’s leave it there.”

“For the most part, we can.”

“This is the one and only time I’ll talk about it. So whatever it is that’s been eating you up, get it out now. Because reminiscing over a broken engagement isn’t my idea of a good time.”

“Mine either.”

The waiter reappeared and asked if they were ready to order. “You go ahead. Oh, wait.” He winked and her heart fluttered. “Let me guess, you’re going to get a taco salad with shredded chicken. No guacamole or sour cream, with extra cheese if possible.”

The waiter glanced at her, but she stared across at Daniel wondering how he had remembered her order after all these years.

“Ma’am?” The waiter held his pen to his notepad.

“Uh, yeah. What he said.”

“And for you?” He turned his focus to Daniel, scribbling her order down.

She took a deep breath, hoping her heart would calm down.

“The beef fajitas with extra onions.” He handed the menu back to the waiter.

Sandy took a sip of her drink and returned to the chips and salsa. She kept her focus on the red tablecloth. Looking at Daniel right now would be hard. She needed time to wrap her head around the way he was making her feel. All these old emotions were creeping in. Somehow she had to push them back where they belonged.

Excerpt: In Bed with Mr. Wrong by Katee Robert

“Don’t think for a second you’re getting a good-night kiss.”
“A kiss from you?” He stepped forward into her finger, forcing her to open her hand against his chest or take a step back. She refused to budge. He leaned down, crowding her. “I’d rather kiss a snake.”
“Then it’s too bad it’s winter, because they’re in short supply.” She pushed at his chest again, nearly snarling when he didn’t move. “You should just burn something else down. That might draw a few to the heat.”
“Or maybe I’ll just set fire to your goddamn granny panties. That’s sure to create a big enough blaze.”
Her jaw dropped open and she swallowed hard. “As if you could.”
“Watch me.”
He grabbed her hips and yanked her against him. Bri gasped. There was so much heat in his blue eyes, it was a wonder every single article of clothing she wore didn’t go up in smoke. “You—”
But then she saw it. The challenge hidden behind the heat. He didn’t think she could handle this. Handle him.
His mouth curled into a smirk, and his hands tightened on her hips. The feel of his fingers digging into her flesh through the thin fabric of her skirt made her want to throw all caution to the wind. He thought he’d won, did he?
“Screw it.” She grabbed the lapels of his shirt and went up on her tiptoes to smash her lips against his. He froze, then stumbled backward and slammed into the wall of her screened porch, taking her with him. A wave of victory went through her. For all his talk, he hadn’t expected her to make a move. She moved one hand to the back of his neck and tipped his head down so she could set her teeth into his bottom lip.
Just like that, he came alive in her arms and pulled her tighter against him. His tongue delved into her mouth, stroking hers with no hesitation, igniting her passion until she couldn’t fight back a moan. How could one giant brute taste so decadent? She slid her tongue along his, not sure if she was searching for an answer or simply enjoying the way her very nerves seemed to spark and dance at every place they touched.
Would her whole body do that if they were naked?
Whoa. Where had that thought come from? She was proving him wrong, not jumping into bed with the man. She tried to pull away. “I think—”
“Stop talking.”

Excerpt: Fighting For Irish by Gina Maxwell
Aiden dropped his hands to her hips and stepped closer. “Will you stay tonight?” he asked softly.
 “I’ll stay.”
One night. He could do that, couldn’t he? Then he could get this need for her out of his system and focus on winning the tournament to free her from any danger. His job would be done, his debt paid to Jax, and he could move back home to continue his daily penance and meaningless existence.
But right now he wanted to feel alive again, if only for a night in the arms of the woman who’d had his balls on lockdown for months. She was the reason no one else even appealed to him anymore. He needed her, just this once. But he wouldn’t do it without an understanding between them.
“Kat, can I be honest with you?” Aiden was aware of the fine line he was walking. Now he just had to do it without sounding crude or disrespectful, which would be a challenge. He was no smooth-talking Romeo.
Meeting her expectant gaze, he took a deep breath and prepared himself for the possibility of getting slapped. “I wanna be with you tonight.”
“As in, with me with me?”
“Yeah,” he said, amusement lifting a corner of his mouth. “With you with you. It’s been a really long time since I wanted someone as much I want you.”
“Really?” she asked breathlessly.
“You sound surprised.”
She offered a weak shrug and suddenly found interest in the floorboards. “You seem like you’d be more into exciting, exotic looking women. Like one of those sexy, new-age pin-up girls with the flawless skin and beautiful tattoos.”
He almost laughed until he realized she was serious. She had no idea what she did to him. Grabbing one of her hands still resting on his shoulder, he slowly dragged it over his chest and down his stomach until they finally reached his stiff erection straining against the restrictive boxer briefs under his shorts.
Aiden groaned as he molded her hand over his cock. The feel of her gripping him nearly redefined the word “premature.” She drew in a quick breath and raised her eyes to his. Her cheeks filling with a pretty shade of pink did crazy things to his insides. The more her innocence showed through the more he wanted her.
He couldn’t make sense of it. She was right. Typically he went for the larger-than-life women who treated every day like it was their own personal thrill ride. Kat was something else entirely. Worldly beyond her years, yet somehow more innocent than she should be.
“This is how into you I am, sweetheart. Believe me when I tell you I couldn’t fake this kind of interest,” he assured her. “I want you, Kat. Wicked bad. But I don’t have anything more to offer you than one night. That’s me being honest. So if you wanna give me the red light now I’ll understand, but you gotta let me know while I still have use of some of my brain.”
“Green.”
